Over the last 30 plus years we have performed more than 18,000 Residential Energy Analyses. Through our observations we have come to the conclusion the home building industry is in need of a major paradigm shift. Nearly all of our homes are unhealthy, uncomfortable, non-durable and/or have enormous utility bills.
We as an industry have the ability to resolve all of these issues by applying the building science “House As A System” approach. This involves testing-in to determine a course of action. As action items are installed we test to determine proper installation. Upon completion of all action items a final test-out is performed. Any items not meeting design criteria will be corrected.
There are very few in our building industry that are educated and practice “House As A System”. Doing this approach to its fullest will result in healthy, comfortable, durable homes with Net Zero utility bills.
